The prophets spoke of Christ and his salvation (1 Pet. 1:10; Eph. 2:17) and the gospel was proclaimed to Abraham (Gal. 3:8), but how their words would come to pass was not understood before the appearance of Christ. “The apostles are the first to know what the prophets said” (H.
