109E. Lohmeyer (ad loc.) quotes from ’ Abot de-Rabbi Nathan 2 ([?]3rd cent. A.D.) a comment on the title of Ps. 92 (“A psalm: a song for the sabbath”) which interprets it of “that day which is all sabbath, on which there is no eating or drinking, . . . but the righteous sit with crowns on their heads and refresh themselves with the vision of the Shekhinah” (cf. Heb. 4:9). Other references in the same sense are listed by Strack-Billerbeck, Kommentar 4, pp. 839-40.
110Cf. E. Schweizer, ad loc. (pp. 157-58). J. B. Lightfoot (ad loc.) renders Gk. τò δὲ σѽμα τοῡ Xϱɩστοῡ “but the substance belongs to Christ.” Attempts to understand σὸμα τοῡ Xϱɩστοῡ here as the “body of Christ” in the distinctive Pauline sense are unsatisfactory; such are the suggested translation “but (let) the body of Christ (judge such matters),” quoted as acceptable by G. Farmer, “Mr. Robson on the Lord’s Supper,” ExT 6 (1894-95), 137, and the punctuation found in an unidentified manuscript by H. Grotius: τὸ δὲ σѽμα τοῡ Xϱɩστοῡ μηδείς ὑμᾶς ϰαταβϱαβευὲτω, “but let no one disqualify you, (you who are) the body of Christ” (G. Farmer, “Grotius,” ExT 17 [1905-06], 430, where Grotius’s quotation from Photius is also mentioned: “the body of Christ, that is, the truth”).
