Section 294

ἐσϰοτωμένοɩ (from σϰοτóω); D F G and the majority of cursives read ἐσϰοτɩσμένοɩ (the corresponding form from σϰοτίζω).

δɩἀ τὴν ἄγνοɩαν τὴν οὐσαν ἐν αὐτοῖς (“because of the ignorance that is in them”).

ἀπηλγηϰóτες, for which D F G P and a few cursives, with the Latin versions (desperantes) and syrpesh, read ἀπηλπɩϰóτες.

For ἐν πλεονεξίᾳ (comitative ἐν) D F G and a few cursives read ϰαὶ πλεονεξίας.

ὑμεῖς δὲ οὐϰ οὓτως ἐμάθετε τòν Xϱɩστóν (“but you did not thus learn Christ”).

εἴ γε . . . ἠϰοὑσατε, “if at least you heard,” “assuming that you heard” (εἴ γε as in Eph. 3:2).

ϰαὶ ἐν αὐτῷ ἐδɩδάϰθητε, ϰαθώς ἐστɩν ἀλήθεɩα ἐν τῷ ’Iησοῦ (“and were taught in him, as truth is in Jesus”). Since the earliest manuscripts rarely mark iota subscript or adscript, it is possible to read the dative ἀληθείᾳ instead of the nominative ἀλήθεɩα, and some commentators do so (“as he is in truth, in Jesus”).

ϰατὰ τὴν πϱοτέϱαν ἀναστϱοφήν (“according to your former way of life”).

ϰατὰ τἀς έπɩθυμίας τῆς ἀπάτης (“according to the desires of deceitfulness”); for the plural τἀς ἐπɩθυμίας D reads the singular τήν ἐπɩθυμίαν.

For the infinitive ἀνανεοῦσθαɩ P46 D1 K 33 and a few cursives read the imperative ἀνανεοῦσθε.

τῷ πνεύματɩ. P49 B 33 and a few cursives read ἐν τῷ πνεύματɩ.

For the infinitive ἐνδύσασθαɩ P46 ℵ B* D2 K and several cursives read the imperative ἐνδύσασθε.

For ὁσɩóτητɩ τῆς ἀληθείας (“holiness of truth”) D* F G and some other witnesses read ὁσɩóτητɩ ϰαὶ ἀληθείᾳ (“holiness and truth”); cf. ϰαὶ πλεονεξίας for ἐν πλεονεξίᾳ in v. 19 (n. 101).
