127ἀποϰτείνασ τὴν ἔϰθϱαν ἐν αὐτῷ. The reading ἐν αὐτῷ means “by means of the cross”; if ἐν ἐαυτῷ be preferred (see p. 294, n. 105), “in himself” would be parallel to “in his flesh” of v. 14. Christ has put the hostility to death by drawing it off onto himself and allowing it to put him on the cross. For the ἓϰϱα see W. Rader, The Church and Racial Hostility: A History of the Interpretation of Ephesians 2:11–22, BGBE 20 (Tübingen, 1978).
