CHAPTER VII: ON THE CANONICAL BOOKS OF THE OLD TESTAMENT IN PARTICULAR

§ 118. We said earlier in § 65 that our churches are in agreement with the ancient Israelite church and acknowledge these and no other books in the canon of the Old Testament: (1) the five Books of Moses; (2) Joshua; (3) Judges; (4) Ruth; (5) the two Books of Samuel; (6) the two of Kings; (7) the two of Chronicles; (8) the two prior Books of Ezra; (9) Esther; (10) Job; (11) Psalms; (12) the three Books of Solomon: Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Songs; (13) the four major prophets: Isaiah, Jeremiah along with Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel; and (14) the twelve minor prophets: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. About these in particular we shall teach some things that will have much importance for a solid understanding of Scripture.
