Seventh, from a comparison of both similar and equal things.
(VII) From a comparison of both similar and equal things. These things belong to a comparison of similar things: Inheritance is common to all children. Scripture is the outstanding inheritance of the children of God in this world. Therefore. Matt. 5:15: “A lamp is not put under a bushel but on a stand, that it may give light to all in the house.” Scripture is a “lamp” (2 Pet. 1:19). Therefore in the Church, “which is the house of God” (1 Tim. 3:15), Scripture must be placed on a stand, that it may give light to all and that its use may be common to all.
These things belong to a comparison of equal things: If God wants all the children of the Church to be participants in His Sacraments, why not also in His written Word? If God the Spirit makes all the children of the Church participants in Himself, then they certainly must not be kept away from the words of the Spirit and instruction in divine mysteries.
