Chapter 174 of 426

Philippians.

Philippians.

Philippians.

§ 262. The apostle had begun a church at Philippi, the chief city of Macedonia (Acts 16:12). This church had sent Epaphroditus, through whom it had offered help to Paul. In this letter, therefore, the apostle responds to them and makes known their devout eagerness.

It consists of four chapters and falls into two parts. The first is exhorting, encouraging them to a steadfast faith and holy life; the second is of thanksgiving, in which he gives thanks for the benefits of the Philippians.
