The fathers remove it from the canon.

The fathers remove it from the canon.

§ 187. [V] The fathers eliminate this book from the canon. Jerome, preface to Tobit: “The Hebrews have cut this book from the catalog of divine Scripture and have given it up to those that they call ‘hagiographa.’ “(Here we must read “apocrypha” instead of “hagiographa,” as we have shown earlier.) Jerome again, preface to the Books of Solomon: “The Church does not accept the Book of Tobit among canonical Scripture.” In his Epistle ad Paulin., he does not list it among the canonical books. Athanasius (Synops.) counts it among the noncanonical books. Those whose approval we cited earlier in the question regarding the canonical books in general hold the same opinion.
