The Trullan Synod.
The Trullan Synod.
§ 85. Lest we be forced to bring up individual authors of the Eastern churches, we shall conclude this topic quickly. In the Sixth Synod of Constantinople (called the Trullan Synod because it met in Trullo, the palace of the emperor),7 the Council of Laodicea was confirmed, which votes for our position. But almost all the Eastern fathers were at that Trullan Synod. In his preface to the Sixth Synod, Balsamon proves that there also were many westerners present, which explains why it is called in some transcripts a “general council.”
