[I] They are not written in Hebrew but in Greek and thus do not have a prophet as their author. They were written after the time of Malachi, who was the last prophet of the Old Testament. Therefore they were not written by a prophet. Jerome (Catal. vir. illustr.; Contra Pelag., bk. 2) and others claim that “Josephus is the author of these books.” Josephus, however, lived after Christ and was not renowned for prophetic authority. How, then, could he have written a prophetic book of the Old Testament?
