(1) Baruch is not written in the prophetic language but in Greek. Baruch 6:2 says, “You will be there for seven generations.” Yet this is alien to Hebrew style, for nowhere in Hebrew literature is the word “generation” taken to include a period of ten years. The epistle that is attributed to Jeremiah in c. 6 has little flavor of his style. Jerome says (preface to Jeremiah): “The Hebrews neither have nor read this book.”
