The gloss of the Jus canonicum.
The gloss of the Jus canonicum.
The author of the gloss of the Jus canonicum was Johannes Semeca Teutonicus, a professor of law who is buried at Halberstadt, according to Krantzius (Hist. Sax., bk. 8, c. 27). In dist. 15, c. Canones, on the word Apocrypha, Teutonicus makes this comment: “Apocrypha: that is, without author; such as the Wisdom of Solomon; the Book of Jesus, Son of Sirach, which is called Ecclesiasticus; the Book of Judith; the Book of Tobit; the Book of Maccabees. These are called apocryphal, yet they are read, but perhaps not generally.”
