WONDERFUL LOVE
As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
IT IS generally agreed that Christ's discourse in this and the next chapter was at the close of His Last Supper, the night in which He was betrayed. ea al SeperPISVEOTeantetleer
I. THE FATHER'S LOVE FOR CHRIST.
A. The Fact of the Father's Love for His Son.
"As the Father hath loved me." He loved Him as Mediator: "This is my beloved Son" (Matthew 3:17; 17:5). He was the Son of His love. He loved Him and gave all things into His hands (John 13:3).
B. The Son's Abiding in His Father's Love.
1. He continuously loved the Father. He continually loved His Father and was beloved of Him. Even when He was made sin and a curse for us and 'it pleased the Lord to bruise Him, yet He abode in the Father's love.
2. He cheerfully suffered because He loved the Father. Because He continued to love His Father, He went cheerfully chrotigh! His sufferings, and therefore His Father continued to love Him. ~ °®*© Artwhlny , Shou = wet necassac iy Aetne wl\ug | > nor reluctantly | \ Noe witbeu
