Christ's Discourse on Regeneration

CONCLUSION

"Ye must be born again." Christ shows that it is necessary in the nature of the thing, for we are not fit to enter into the kingdom of God until we are born again. "That which is born of the flesh is flesh." Here is our malady and the causes of it, which are such as speak plainly that there is no remedy but the new birth.

FAITH IN CHRIST INFERRED FROM FAITH

IN GOD

pe eta aeivcke eicotee aes ee

I. THE OBJECTS OF FAITH.

A. God the Father Almighty and Christ the Eater s Only Begotten Son.

We cannot believe in God as the Father without believing in Him who is the Son of the Father, the only begotten of the Father and therefore of the - same nature with Him.

B. God the Eternal Mind and Christ the Eternal Word and Wisdom. _

God is an infinite Spirit and He has told us that the Redeemer is the Word. As the thought is one with the mind that thinks it and yet may be _ considered as distinct from it, so Christ was and is one with the Father and yet distinct from the Eternal Wisdom.

Faith in Christ Inferred from Faith in God

C. God the Creator and Governor of the World and Christ the Power of God.

We are conscious that we are sinners and that from God our judgment must proceed. Whenever we think of giving an account to God we "must remember the Lord Jesus as the only mediator between us and God.
