_ THE YEAR OF

THE REDEEMED

The year of my redeemed is come.

—ISAIAH 63:4

THERE will come a year of redemption for those who suffer in the cause of Christ. God will not and men shall not contend forever; nor shall the rod of the wicked rest always upon the lot of the righteous, although it may rest long there.

I. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE YEAR OF THE REDEEMED.

A. The Year of Recompence for the Controversy of Zion (Isaiah 34:8).

1. For the sons of Zion. God espouses the cause of the sons of Zion who have been abused by their enemies and trodden down and broken to pieces as earthen pitchers.

2. For the worship of Zion. Jehovah's controversy is for the songs of Zion, which their persecutors have profaned by their insolence and contempt of the Jews and their religion when they upbraided them in their captivity with the songs of Zion (Psalm 137:3, 8).

3. For the powers of the king of. Zion, which the enemies have usurped. The offices of our Lord have been invaded by corrupt ecclesiasticism. Shall not the crown of the exalted Redeemer be supported against these usurpations?
