Introduction

Esther is set in the Persian court. A Jewish queen and her cousin Mordecai confront a plot to destroy their people. God’s name is never mentioned, yet providence runs through lots, sleepless nights, and reversed decrees. The feast of Purim remembers that hidden help is still help.
