1 Kings
Introduction
1 Kings opens with Solomon’s wisdom and the temple, then traces the split into Israel and Judah. Jeroboam’s calves and Ahab’s Baal worship mark the northern kingdom’s decline. Elijah confronts the prophets on Carmel and flees to Horeb. The book measures kings by whether they walk in the ways of the Lord.
