Introduction

2 Samuel follows David’s reign: the capture of Jerusalem, the covenant promise of an everlasting house, and then the fracture that follows Bathsheba and Uriah. Absalom’s revolt and the later census show a king who is both chosen and deeply flawed. The book holds together worship, politics, and repentance. David’s God remains faithful when David is not.
