Article VIII. Duties Of Officers
Sec. 1. IT SHALL BE THE DUTY OF THE PRESIDENT
a. to lead and counsel this Church in spiritual and tem»orary matters.
b. to be the executive officer of the Church.
c. to preside at all sessions of the: conventions of the Church and of the Executive Council and to place on the agenda of the Executive Council any matter which requires its attention.
d. to present to the regular convention of the Church a report on his official work, on the work of the Executive Council and on state of the Church, together with his recommenda. tions.
e. to see that the constitution and by-laws are observed and the enactments of the Church are carried out.
f. to signall.official papers authorized by the Church or by one of its subsidiary bodies.
g. to be the legal representative of the Church, being competent to file suits authorized by the Executive council and to defend suits brought against the Church or any of its subsidiary bodies.
h. to conduct correspondence for this Church including the distribution of notide$ to delegates. -
i. to have oversight of the work of the secretary and to have charge of the printing and. distribution of the minutes of the convention and of the Executive Council.
j. to make, with the assistance of the Executive Council, necessary corrections in two copies of the printed minutes of each convention of the Church, and of the Executive Council to certify them as the official record of the said convention or Executive Council and to submit them to the next meeting of the respective bodies for approval and deposit in the archives.
k. to be the chairman of the ministerium of the A. E. L. Church and to maintain the clergy roll of the Church.
I. upon the authorization of the Executive Council to ordain all approved candidates for the ministry of this Church.
m. to take {cognizance of fall offences by ministers of this Church which would make them liable (to discipline under Art. IV. Sec. 4 c. of this constitution and to suspend an accused minister when necessary according to the provisions of by-laws of the A. E£.l. Church Art, I Sec. 4. i.
n. to 'appoint all committees whose appointment is not otherwise provided for and to make recommendation to the Executive Council concerning the appointment of all standing [committees and of appointed members of the boards of the A. E. L. Chuich.
o. to be the chairfhan of the Committee on Synods.
p. to have seat and voice in all conventions and executive committees of synods, and in all boards, standing cominittees and special committees of the Church, being competent to bring to the attention of these hodies any matter which he feels they should consider,
q. to be the primary representative of the A. E. L. Church in all-inter-church associatighs and councils in which this Church holds membership.
r. to maintain and submit for audit the accounts of all budget and other moneys provided for the office of president.
s. to perform such other duties as may ba delegated to him by the convention or the Executive Council! of this Church, _
Sec. 2. IT SHALL BE THE DUTY OF THE VICE-PRESIDENT
a. to act fof the president in his absence or at his request.
b. to perform the duties of the president in case that office for any reason falls vacant until the new president is elected. )
Sec. 3. IT SHALL BE THE DUTY OF THE SECRETARY: to submit to the president within one month after the close of a convention of the Church, and within tw> weeks after the close of each meeting of the Executive Council, the minutes of such convention or meeting. He shall also compare with his original draft of the minutes two copies of the printed minutes, shall call to the attention of the president and of the concerned: body necessaty corrections, and shall along with the president attest those two corrected copies of the minutes as the official record of those sessions.
Sec. 4. IT SHALL BE THE DUTY OF THE TREASURER:
a. toreceive all moneys remitted to the A. E, L, Church and to maintain accurate accounts related thereto.
b. to pay all moneys sanctioned in the budget of the Church and by enactment of the Executive Council.
Cc. to call for and receive monthly reconciliation statements and quarterly statements of acoounts from all persons handling accounts of the Church or of any of its subsidiary bodies or institutions.
d. to make report of the financial affairs of this Church to the convention and to the Executive Council by means [. Co. -. i
of petitidic statemghitd appended to the minutes of these bodies-and% advise the Church and its subsidiary bodies on financial matters.
©. to submit balance sheets and other statements when and as required by the auditors and by the Societies Registration Act.
f. to assist the president of this Church in the conduct of correspondence in financial matters.
g. tobe the secretary of the Board of Finance and to pro. pare the agenda of that board.
h. tobe a member of the Executive Council,
I. to be in charge of the archives of the Church,
j. to instruct the concerned bank agents from time to time as to the person authorized to operate on any particular A E. L. Church account in accordance with the assignments, appointments or elections of the Church or its costituent bodies.;
k. to present to the synod presidents and the president of the A. E. L. Church a list of S.D.N. donors and a list of parishes contributing towards the Suvartha, Dhana Nidhi Fund by Feb. 15th of each year.
I. _to perform such other duties as may from time to time be assighed to him- by the Executive Council or the convention of the A E. L. Church.
