    Article XII. Boards

    Sec. 1. GENERAL

    a. 1. Boards are administrative bodies through which the work of this Church is carried on. Each board shall frame its own rules of procedure for its work, which rules shall become operative after approval by the Executive Council, Each board shalj report all its actions to the Executive Council thiough the minutes of the board, which shall be appended to the minutes to the Executive Council and distributed to the members of the Executive Council, but recommendations requiring action by the Executive Council or by one of its standing committees shall be reported immediately by the board to the Executive Council.

    2. For certain eCumenical institutions and ministries such as Andhra Christian Theological College, Suvarthavani, Gurukul and United Theological College, this Church shall Co-Operative with boards which will have membership from this Church and with other Churches and co-operating agencies. The important actions of these boards and matters concerning the Churches shall be reported to the Executive Council of this Church.

    b. Each board shall report to the convention on the work of the board during the biennium, and through the Executive Council may take recommendations to the convention concerning matters of general policy, new work or the state of the Church within the particular sphere of work of that board,

    c. The term of board members shall be two bienniums unless otherwise indicated.

    Sec. 2. BOARD OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AND LITERATURE

    a. Composition:

    1. Ex-officio Principals of Bible Training Schools A. C. T. C. Principal or his nominee

    Chairman, Board of Christian Education,

    Andhra Christian Council

    Literature Secretary

    Chairman, Committee on Ministry among Women

    Director of the Department of Christian Education 1-7

    2. Elected by the synods:

    One person elected by each synod 8-12

    3. Appointed by the Executive Council:

    One expert in Christian education from another seminary

    or Church related to the Andhra Christian Council 13

    One Sunday school superintendent 14

    One youth representative (25-30 years of age) 15

    One woman representive with experience in

    literature work. 16

    b. Duties-the duties of this board shall be as setfort in the

    by laws of the A. E. L. Church.

    Sec. 3. BOARD-OF COLLEGE EDUCATION

    a. Composition

    1. Ex-Officio:

    Principals of the colleges

    Bursars of the colleges

    Dean of Women of the Andhra Christian

    College 1-6

    2. Elected by the synods:

    One elected by each synod 6-10

    3. Elected by the convention:

    Three, at least two of whom shall be non-

    employees of the Church, elected by the

    convention from panels submitted by this board 11-13

    4. Appointed by the Executive Council:

    One teaching staff member from each of the

    Colleges 14-156

    TwO missionaries 16-17

    6. Two representatives from the University 18-19

    6. One representaive of the Education Depart-

    ment of the Government 20

    7. One representative from each cooperating body 21-

    b. Duties—the duties of this board shall be as set forth in

    the by-laws of the A.E. L. Church

    Sec. 4. BOARD OF EVANGELISM AND MISSIONS

    a. Composition

    1. Elected by the synods:

    Five lay persons with experience in evangelism

    of whom two shall be women 1-6

    Five pastors 6-10

    2. Appointed by the Executive council:

    One woman, who shall be conversant with Bible

    women's work 11

    Chairman, Board of Evangelism, Andhra

    Christian Council 12

    One youth (25.30 years of age) 13

    One person who js conversant with work among

    Mushims 14

    b. Duties—the duties of this board shall be as set forth in

    by-laws of the A. E. L. Church,

    Sec. 5. BOARD OF FINANCE:

    8. Composition

    1. Ex-officie:

    President of the Church

    Treasurer of the Church (secretary of the board)

    Property Officer

    Financial Officer, Inter Church Service Agency,

    or his nominee 1-4

    2. Elected by the synods:

    One person elected by each synod 6-9

    3. Elected by the convention:

    Three persons, one of whom shall be an ordained

    Indian and at least one of whom shall be a:person

    assigned to an administrative charge of work in the

    Church 10-12

    4. Appointed by the Executive Couucil:

    Two lay persons at least one of whom shall be a

    woman 13-14

    b. Duties—the duties of this board shall be as set forth in

    the by—laws of the A.E.L Church.

    Sec. 6. BOARD OF MEDICAL SERVICES

    a. Composition

    1. Ex-officio:

    Two medical superintendents from the hospitals of

    the Church, each for a period of two years, according

    to the following table of rotation.

    Augustana and Baer.

    Keiding and Kugler

    Rajahmundry and Rentachintala

    Tarlupadu and Visrantipuram

    and similarly. repeating the table 1-2

    Two nursing superintendents from the hospitals of the

    Church, each for a period of two years, according to

    the following table of rotation:

    Rajahmundry and Rentachintala

    Baer and Visrantipuram

    Kugler and Augustana

    and similarly, repeating the table 3-4

    2. Elected by the synods:

    One person elected by each synod 1-2

    3. Elected by the convention:

    Three persons elected from panels submitted

    4. Appointed by the Executive Council:

    Two missionaries 13-14

    b. Duties- the duties of this board shall be as set forth in

    the by-laws of the A. E.L. Church

    Sec. 7. BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION

    a. Composition

    1. Elected by the synods:

    One person elected by each synod 1-5

    2 Elected by the convention

    One correspondent of a boys' high school

    (if not otherwise elected)

    One correspondent of a girls' high school

    (if not otherwise elected)

    One headmistress of a girls' high school

    (if not otherwise elected)

    One headmaster of a boys high school

    (if not otherwise elected) 6-9

    3. Appointed by the Executive Council:

    Two non-church employee graduates, specialists

    in education, one of whom shall be a woman 10-11

    One pastor (if not otherwise elected) 12

    Two teaching staff members:

    (if not otherwise elected)

    Girls' school - one alternately B. Ed. and

    Boys' school - one } secondary grade

    (from schools not otherwise represented by the

    above, if not otherwise 'elected) 13-14

    Non-teaching staff

    One alternately from girls' & boys' high schools

    (if not otherwise elected) 16

    Chairman, Board of Sscondary Education,

    Andhra Christian Council 16

    One missionary 17
