Week 30: The End
We have spent several weeks following the public ministry of Jesus from his baptism to his arrest and have considered some samples of his teaching as well. Last week we watched while his ordeal of suffering began. Betrayed by Judas and denied by Peter, he was also subjected to interrogation in both a Jewish and a Roman court. Now this week, before we listen to Jesus’s seven words from the cross, we need to gain an overview of his sufferings and death, beginning with the story of Barabbas and of Simon of Cyrene and continuing with Jesus’s crucifixion, death, and burial.
