Psalm 24
Verse 1
How different this is from the ignorant Jewish notion of God that Did it prevail in the days of our Savior? The Jews said: 'The holy land is of God, and the seed of Abraham is his only people"; but their great monarch He had instructed them long before: "The earth is the Lord's and all its fullness."
The whole world and all who live in it belong to Jehovah. their subjects are declared. When we consider the intolerance of the people Jew at the time of Christ, and how angry they were with our Lord for to say that many widows were in Israel, but none of them was the prophet sent only to the widow of Zarephath, and that there were many lepers in Israel, but none of them was healed, except Naaman, the Syrian, when we we also remember. How angry they were at the mention of Paul having been sent to the gentiles, we were surprised that they had remained in such blindness, and yet they sang this psalm, which so clearly shows that God is not just the God of the Jews, but also of the Gentiles. That what kind of reprimand is this for those wise people who speak of blacks and other races desprezadas como se não fossem cuidados pelo Deus do céu! Se um homem é just a man, the Lord claims him, and who dares to mark him as a my goods! The most significantWhat reprimand is this for those wise ones who speak of blacks and other despised races as if they were not care for by the God of heaven! If a man is just a man, the Lord him advertisement, and who dares to mark it as a mere commodity! The most What a reprimand this is for those wise people who speak of the black people. and other races despised as if they were not cared for by the God of heaven!
If a man is just a man, the Lord claims him, and who dares to mark him I see it as merely a commodity! The most significant of men is a inhabitant of the world and, therefore, belongs to Jehovah. Jesus Christ had just finished with the exclusivity of nationalities. There is no barbarian, citizen, he is not free; but we are all one in Christ Jesus.
The man lives 'from the land' and distributes his soil among his kings and autocrats. imitators; but the earth is not man's. He is just a tenant of it. will, a tenant in the most precarious period, subject to eviction instantaneous. The large landowner and the true owner keeps its court above the clouds and laughs at the title works of the worms of dust. The simple rate is not with the lord of the manor nor the freeholder, but with the Creator. The 'fullness' of the earth can mean its harvests, its wealth, your life or your worship; in all these senses, the Most High God He is the Possessor of everything. The earth is full of God; He made this full and He keep this full, despite all the demands that living creatures make on your stores. The sea is full, despite all the clouds that arise from it; the air it is full despite all the lives that breathe it; the soil is full, despite millions of plants derive their food from it. Under the tutelage of the man, the world is reaching a fullness greater than ever before, but it is everything of the Lord; the field and the fruit, the land and all the wonders of the land are of Jehovah. We also seek a sublime fullness when the true the ideal of a world for God must have been achieved in millennial glories, and so more clearly the earth will be the Lord's and its fullness. These words are now at the Royal Exchange in London, they must one day be written in letters of light in the sky. the field and the fruit, the earth and all the the wonders of the earth are from Jehovah. We also seek a sublime fullness. when the true ideal of a world for God must have been achieved in millennial glories, and then more clearly the earth will be the Lord's and His plenitude. These words are now in the Royal Exchange of London, they they should one day be written in letters of light in the sky. the field and the fruit, the earth and All the wonders of the earth are of Jehovah. We also seek a fullness. sublime when the true ideal of a world for God must have been achieved in millennial glories, and then more clearly the land will be of Lord and his fullness. These words are now at the Royal Exchange of London, they must one day be written in letters of light in the sky.
The term 'world' refers to the habitable regions, in which Jehovah is especially recognized as Sovereign. The one who governs the fish of the sea and the birds of the air must not be disobeyed by man, his noblest creature. Jehovah is the Universal King, all nations are under his dominion: the true Autocrats of all nations, emperors and czars are just your slaves. Men are not yours, nor can they call their own. lips, their hearts or their own substances; they are legitimate servants of Jehovah. This statement particularly applies to us who were born from heaven.
We do not belong to the world or to Satan, but through creation and redemption we are the peculiar portion of the Lord.
Paulo uses this verse twice to show that no food is impure, and that nothing truly belongs to false gods. All things they are from God; there is no prohibition on the face of nature, nothing is common or impure. The world is the whole world of God, and the food that is sold in the mess is sanctified because it belongs to my father, and I don't need to have scruples in eat of her.
Verse 2
In the second verse, we have the reason why the world belongs to God, that is, because he created it, which is a title above all dispute. 'For He founded it in the seas." It is God who takes the land from the sea, so that the dry land, which otherwise would be submerged, as in the days of Noah, is impeded by the floods. The hungry jaws of the ocean would devour the dry land if a constant decline in Omnipotence did not protect it. "He established this about the floods." The world belongs to Jehovah, because of generation to generation it preserves and sustains, having established its foundations. Providence and Creation are the two legal seals on the titles of property of the great Owner of all things. He who built the house and supports its foundations certainly has a primary claim over Note, however, that on insecure foundations all things terrestrial ones are founded. Founded in the seas! Established in the floods!
Blessed be God, the Christian has another world to look forward to, and supports their hopes on a foundation more stable than what this poor world offers.
Those who trust in worldly things build upon the sea; but we deposit our hopes, by the grace of God, on the Rock of Ages; We are resting on the promise of an unchanging God, we are depending on the constancy of a faithful Redeemer. but we place our hopes, by the grace of God, on the Rock of Ages; We are resting on the promise of an unchanging God, we are depending on the constancy of a faithful Redeemer. But we place our hopes in, grace of God, on the Rock of Ages; We are resting on the promise of an unchanging God, we are depending on the constancy of a Faithful Redeemer. Oh! you worldly ones, who have built your castles of trust, your palaces of riches and your hostages of pleasure over the mares, and I established them in the floods; in how much time their tissues without they will melt away, like foam on the waters! The sand is sufficiently treacherous, but what to say of the even more unstable sea?
Verses 3-6. Here we have the true Israel described. The men who must to remain as courtiers in the palace of the living God are not distinguished for their race, but for their character; they are not just Jews, nor just Gentiles, not any branch of humanity peculiarly, but a purified people and made to gather to dwell on the holy mountain of the Lord.
Verse 3 "Who will ascend the mountain of the Lord?" It is a hard work for the creature to reach the Creator. Where is the powerful climber who can scale the imposing heights? It's not just height; it's glory too. Whose eye Will the king see in his beauty and dwell in his palace? In heaven he reigns more.
Gloriously, who will be allowed to enter His royal presence? God made everything, but he will not save everything; there is a chosen company that will have the singular honor of living with him in his high dwelling. These spirits the chosen wish to commune with God, and their desire will be granted to them.
The solemn investigation of the text is repeated in another form. Who can? stay or continue there? He expels the wicked, who then can to dwell in your house? Who is the one that can behold the Holy? and can to remain in the brightness of His glory? Certainly no one can venture to to commune with God about the foundation of the law, but grace can make us to find to contemplate the vision of the divine presence. The question before we are the ones that everyone must ask for themselves, and no one should be left out will until it has received a response of peace. With careful selfExam, let's ask: "Lord, is it I?"
Verse 4
"He who has clean hands." Outer and practical holiness is a a very precious mark of grace. Washing oneself in water with Pilate is nothing, but washing oneself in innocence is very important. It is to be feared that many teachers they have perverted the doctrine of justification by faith, so as to treat good works with disdain; if that is so, they will receive eternal disdain in the end great day. It is useless to preach inner experience unless daily life be free from impurity, dishonesty, violence, and oppression. Those who Those who draw near to God must have 'clean hands'. What monarch would have servants with dirty hands to wait at your table? Those who were ceremonially the impure could not enter the house of the Lord which was made with the hands, much less the morally impure will be allowed to enjoy the spiritual communion with a holy God. If our hands are impure, let us wash them in the precious blood of Jesus and pray to God, lifting up pure hands. But 'clean hands' would not be enough, unless were connected with 'a pure heart'. True religion is the heart work. We can wash the exterior of the glass and the plate all the time whatever we want; but if the inner parts are filthy, we will be completely impure in the eyes of God, for our hearts are more truly we ourselves than our hands are. We can lose our hands and still to live, but we cannot lose our heart and still live; life itself our being resides in the inner nature and, therefore, in the imperative need to inner purity. There must be a work of grace at the center of the heart, thus as if in the palm of our hand, or our religion is an illusion. May God grant. that our inner powers may be purified by the sanctifying Spirit, for that we may love holiness and abhor all sin. The pure of heart they will see God, all the others are just blind bats; stone-blindness in us eyes emerge from the stone in the heart. Dirt in the heart throws dust in the eyes.
The soul must be freed from delighting in the terrible toys of the earth; the man who was born for heaven "did not lift his soul to vanity". All the men have their joys, for which their souls are uplifted; the worldly elevate your soul in carnal pleasures, which are mere empty vanities; but the saint loves more substantial things; like Jehoshaphat, he is exalted in the ways of the Lord. Those who are content with the shells will be counted among the pigs. If we suck our consolation from the breasts of the world, we will prove to be your children born at home. Does the world satisfy you? Then you have your reward is your part in this life; do a lot of it, because you will not know another joy. "Nem jurou enganosamente." Os santos são homens de honra ainda. A a man's word is his only oath; but that is as good as twenty oaths of other men. False speaking will close any man off heaven, for a liar shall not enter the house of God, whatever they may be your professions or activities. God will have nothing to do with liars, except to cast them into the lake of fire. Every liar is a child of the devil and will be warrant for your father. A false statement, a fraudulent statement, a cooked account, a slander, a lie - all of this can serve to assembly of the wicked, but they are hated among the true saints: as they could have communion with the God of truth if they did not hate everything false path?
One should not assume that people described this way by their inner holiness and exteriors may be saved by the merits of their works; but their works are the evidences by which they are known. The current verse shows that in us saints, grace reigns and only grace. Such men wear the sacred livery of Great King because he has your love free and covers them.
The true saint wears the wedding garment, but he belongs to what the Lord owns. of the party provided for him, without money and without cost. "He will receive the blessing of the Lord and the justice of the God of his salvation." For the saints they need salvation; they receive justice, and 'the blessing' is a benefit of God, your Savior. They do not ascend the hill of the Lord as givers, but as recipients, and do not rely on their own merits, but on a justice that received. A holy life assures a blessing as a reward from God Saint, but she herself is a blessing of the New Covenant and a delicious fruit of Spirit. God first gives us good works, and then rewards us for them.
Grace is not obscured by God's demand for holiness, but is highly exalted when we see her adorning the saint with jewels, and dressing him in tight white linen; this sumptuous set is a free gift of mercy.
Versículo 6. "Esta é a geração daqueles que o buscam, que buscam a tua face, O Jacob. legitimate seeds. However, they are just seekers; therefore, learn that true seekers are greatly esteemed in the hearts of God, and they are inscribed in his register. Even the search has an influence. sanctifying; What consecrated power must be in finding and enjoying the face And the favor of the Lord! To desire communion with God is one thing. purifier. Hunger and thirst increasingly after a clear vision of the face of God; this will lead us to purify ourselves from all filth and to walk with the celestial circumspection. He who longs to see his friend when he passes.
Take care to clean the window fog, so that your friend doesn't pass by. unnoticed. Truly awake souls seek the Lord above all things, and since this is not the usual desire of humanity, they constitute a generation for themselves; a people despised by men, but loved by God. The "Oh Jacob" is very difficult, unless it is true that the God of Jacob here condescends to be called Jacob, and takes upon himself the name of his chosen people.
The preceding verses correct the excessive boasts of those Jews. who boasted as the favorites of heaven; they are informed that their God is the God of all the earth, and He is holy, and will not admit anyone else. of saints in His presence. That the mere teacher, upon reading these verses, listen to the voice that says: 'without holiness, no one will see the Lord.' "Selah" Lift up the harp and voice, for a nobler song is coming; a song of our beloved.
Verse 7
These last verses reveal to us the great representative man, that responded to the established complete character and, therefore, by right He himself ascended to the holy mountain of Zion. Our Lord Jesus Christ could to ascend to the hill of the Lord because his hands were clean and his the heart was pure, and if we, by faith in him, are conformed to his image, we will also enter. We have here an image of the glorious ascent of our Sir. We see him ascending from the midst of the small group on Olivet and, when the cloud receives him, angels escort him reverently to the gates of sky.
The ancient gates of the eternal temple are personified and directed in song. through the cohorts of assisting jubilant spirits.
His triumphant chariot awaits, And angels sing the solemn lay.
Lift up your heads, O ye gates of heaven; Eternal doors, give up.
They are called to 'raise their head', as if, with all their glory, not fossem suficientemente grandes para o Rei dos Gloriosos. Que todas as things do your best to honor such a great Prince; leave the highest from the heavens to place an unusual greatness in honor of the 'King of Glory'.
He who, newly born from the cross and the tomb, now rides through the gates. from New Jerusalem, it is higher than the heavens; great and everlasting as they are, these gates of pearl are all unworthy of those before which the heavens they are not pure, and they attract their angels with madness. "Lift up your head, O gates.
8. The guards at the gate listening to the song look at the battlements and ask: Who is this King of Glory? meditations of eternity. Who is he in person, nature, character, office And work? What is your pedigree? What is your classification and what is your breed?
The answer given in a powerful wave of music is: "The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle." We know the power of Jesus for the battles he fought, the victories he achieved over the sin, death, and hell, and we applauded as we saw him taking captivity captive in the majesty of his strength. Oh, a heart to sing his praises!
Mighty hero, be crowned forever King of kings and Lord of lords.
Verse 9
"Lift up your heads, O gates; lift them up, O everlasting doors;" "And the King of Glory will enter." The words are repeated with a variation. pleasant. There are moments of deep sincere feeling when the repetitions are not vain, but full of strength. Doors were often withdrawn from their hinges when the Easterners showed welcome to a guest, and some doors were pulled up and down like a drawbridge, and they might have projected from above; literally lifting their heads. The image is highly poetic, and shows how wide is the gate of heaven established by the ascent of our Lord. Blessed be God, the gates have never been closed since then. The the open gates of heaven invite the weakest believer to enter. Dear reader, it is It is possible that you are saying: 'I will never enter the heaven of God, because I do not' I have neither clean hands nor a pure heart. 'Look then at Christ, who has already... he ascended the sacred hill. He entered as the precursor of those who trust Go ahead. Follow in their footsteps and rest on their merit. They ride triumphantly in the sky, and you should also walk there if you trust him. "But how can I "get the described character?" says you. The Spirit of God will give you this. The Spirit of God will give you this. He will create in you a new heart and a right spirit. Faith in Jesus is the work of the Holy Spirit, and It encompasses all virtues. Say You. The Spirit of God will give you this. He will create in you a new heart and a right spirit. Faith in Jesus is the work of the Holy Spirit, and has all the virtues involved in it. Faith is beside the fountain filled with blood, and when she washes in it, clean hands and a pure heart, a holy soul and a true language is given to it and has all the virtues involved In this. The faith is next to the fountain full of blood, and when she washes in it, clean hands and a pure heart, a holy soul and a true tongue are given to her. And it has all the virtues involved in it. Faith is alongside the fountain full of blood, and when she washes in it, clean hands and a heart pure, a holy soul and a true tongue are given to her.
Verse 10
The final note is impressively grand. Jehovah of hosts, Lord of men and angels, Lord of the universe, Lord of worlds, it is the King of glory. All true glory is concentrated in the true God, for all other glory is just a fleeting spectacle, the painted pomp of an hour. The ascended Savior is hereby declared the Head and Crown of universe, the King of Glory. Our Emmanuel is a hymn in more sublime strains.
Jesus of Nazareth is Jehovah Sabaoth.
