Getting Started
Preliminaries
Before engaging with the ideas of Christian theology, we need to explore the way in which those ideas are developed. What are the sources of theology? How does theology develop its basic ideas and themes? This second part of this book will consider these and many other related matters, before we move on to deal with the substance of Christian theology in the third part of this work. This part touches on many of the themes that are often described as “fundamental theology,” such as the nature of revelation.
This opening chapter of the second major section of this work surveys some general themes which underlie the discipline of Christian theology. We begin by considering what is meant by “faith.”
