building project stalls, and the result is spiritual infancy and instability, tossed about by every wind of doctrine.
Finally, the word of His grace gives an inheritance. It assures believers of their place among those who are sanctified. Doctrine is not esoteric knowledge for the intellectually curious. It is promissory. It declares to the believer what God has secured for them in Christ: forgiveness, adoption, righteousness, eternal life, and the promised inheritance of the coming kingdom. To know doctrine is to know the terms of one's inheritance. To be ignorant of doctrine is to live as a pauper when one is a prince.
