Addressing marriage directly from Scripture rather than from shifting cultural opinion, Tozer affirms the biblical pattern of wifely submission and husbandly consideration as complementary, not competitive, roles. He is careful to reject any license for domineering “brutal lordship” by a husband, pointing to Abraham, Jacob and other biblical households as examples of noble, non-tyrannical leadership.
