There are some difficult problems with the text. Thus in Jude 5 the strongest attestation is for the reading "Jesus,” 4 but it is so difficult to think that the writer holds that Jesus delivered Israel from Egypt that most reject the reading. Again, there are difficulties with verses 22-23, where some MSS give us three classes of people (as NIV) and some two (as NEB) ; most scholars accept three classes. The other variants in the letter are of relatively minor importance.
