Editor'S Foreword
EDITOR'S FOREWORD
.With the printing of this volume the Franciscan Institute continues a series of Bonaventurean translations begun decades ago by Fr. Philotheus Boehner. Volume I was printed in 1940 and reissued in 1955; it was a translation and study of St. Bonaventure's De
Reductione Artium ad Theologiam. Volume II, printed in 1956, was a study and translation of the [tinerarium Mentis in Deum.
It was desirable to make the present volume as much as possible like the first two works. But due to a number of factors, including the rise of printing costs and the declining use of Latin by young students, it was deemed better not to print the original Latin text with the facing translation. An interested scholar will usually find the Latin text accessible in the Quaracchi edition's volume V, pp. 45-115.
The Franciscan Institute is proud to add this volume to the Englished WORKS OF SAINT BONAVENTURE.
It is also grateful to Fr. Zachary Hayes, O.F.M. for having prepared the translation and the scholarly introduction.
The Disputed Questions on the Mystery of the Trinity deserves to be better known.
