Corrie ten Boom, Her Story (continued)
19. The Lost Sheep
RECENTLY I MET someone who had known the Lord for a long time, but she had turned away from Him. I sang to her, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."
"T sang that song when I was in Sunday school," she said. "Yes, then I heard about the Lord Jesus every Sunday, but I have gone astray. I did not speak to Him and I did not listen to Him for many years. And now I'm so ill—what can I do?"
I told her of the good shepherd who had a hundred sheep and one of them had also gone astray. "It did not come home with the others. That shepherd left the ninety-nine at home and went to seek that one silly sheep that had lost its way. He found it, took it in his arms, and brought it home. He was very, very happy. So Jesus is on His way looking for you. Won't you let yourself be found by this wonderful Friend who is our Saviour? He is looking for you, and when you call Him, He will take you and carry you home. He will be so happy!"
She closed her eyes and thought about it. Then, opening her eyes again, she said, "Ts it as simple as all that?"
"Yes, it-is." She folded her hands. "Lord Jesus, forgive me for having gone my own way. Take me in Your arms and take me back home. Amen."
He was so near that it was as if we heard Him say, "... him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out" (John 6:37).
She looked up and smiled a very happy smile. "What a Friend we have in Jesus!"
