Corrie ten Boom, Her Story
18. Little Angel
IN A CHILDREN'S hospital, I stood with my hand in a mother's hand. Her little girl had died. She looked like a little angel. On that little girl's dead face there was such an expression of peace!
"Oh, what joy it must be for that little child to be with Jesus! She will be so happy in heaven."
"T believe that, too," the mother said, "but Corrie, you don't know how wounded Tam. I loved my little girl so very much. Why did the Lord take her away from me?"
"T do not know, but God knows. He understands you. He loves you and He loves that little girl."
There are moments when the suffering is so deep that one can hardly talk to a person. What a joy it is then to know that the Lord understands. No pit is so deep that the Lord is not deeper still. Underneath us are the everlasting arms—and the Lord understands.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Psalms 91:4
