This important new study places the Lombard's teachings on charity in the larger context of his conception of grace, both in the Sentences and in other works (pp. 343-91). Moreover, Rydstrpm-Poulsen offers a detailed discussion of the earliest reception of Peter's identification of charity with the Holy Spirit, by masters sympathetic to (pp. 392-434) and critical of it (pp. 435-66). This book appeared after I had completed my own chapter 4.
