Two global movements were of special significance to John Stott: one to serve students, and another to serve pastors.
Uncle John was a lifelong Ambassador-at-Large for The International Fellowship of Evangelical Students. (IFES). IFES links together all the Christian Unions in the world. Groups like the CICCU, which helped John so much, are found in over 150 nations. He knew many staff and student leaders in these groups by name, and loved to share fellowship with them.
Uncle John was Founder and lifelong President of The Langham Partnership. The Langham Partnership (i) provides books for pastors in the developing world, so they can study; and (ii) trains pastors in how to teach the Bible better, running ‘Preaching Clubs’ for them to help and encourage one another. In addition it (iii) raises funds to give scholarships to some of the best young Asian and African theologians, so they can pursue studies in the West. A few of them study at Tyndale House.
Both these movements are part of The Lausanne Movement (see page 127).
