Life as a Test
Life on Earth is essentially a test, as reflected in numerous
Biblical stories. God tests people's character, faith, and obedience. Examples of testing include Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac and the trials faced by David. Each individual's response to life situations is continuously monitored by God.
Tests can manifest through changes, problems, unanswered prayers, and tragedies. Understanding life as a test implies that even minor incidents contribute to character development. God's grace is always available to help navigate these tests, and passing them will be met with eternal rewards.
Life as a Trust
Life is also a trust, emphasizing stewardship over God's gifts.
Everything we possess is a loan from God; we are to manage it responsibly. This concept began with Adam and Eve, who were entrusted to care for creation. Proper management reflects our faithfulness to God. Jesus illustrated this with the parable of the talents, where faithful management is rewarded with greater responsibility and joy in eternity.
Financial stewardship is both a test and a trust. Our handling of money reveals our trustworthiness for spiritual riches.
