Sadhu Sundar Singh (1889 – disappeared 1929) was an Indian Christian evangelist and ascetic who travelled as an itinerant “sadhu,” wearing the saffron robe of a Hindu holy man while preaching Christ across India, Tibet and beyond. Converted from Sikhism as a teenager after a vision of Christ, he became one of the most widely read Indian Christian voices of the twentieth century, known for his simple, story-based teaching — and for vanishing on a final journey into Tibet in 1929.

About Sadhu Sundar Singh
Sundar Singh was born to a Sikh family in Patiala State, Punjab, in 1889. As a teenager, disillusioned and burning a Bible in protest, he experienced a vision of Christ that led to his conversion — at the cost of being disowned by his family. Rather than adopting Western dress, he took up the yellow robe of a wandering Hindu sadhu and spent the rest of his life travelling on foot through India, Tibet, Nepal and beyond, preaching a Christ he described in vivid parables drawn from Indian village life.
His own books — With and Without Christ, Reality and Religion, Visions of the Spiritual World and his collected meditations and teachings — were written or dictated in the 1920s and translated into English soon after. He disappeared during a journey into Tibet in 1929, and was never found. In the decades since, missionaries, biographers and scholars — C. F. Andrews, Mrs. Arthur Parker, Cyril J. Davey, and B. H. Streeter with A. J. Appasamy among them — have written full-length studies of his life and teaching, several of which UECF.NET also carries below.
