Part 13

of Christ, written with the spirit of the living God on the fleshly

pages of our heart. The word gives us strength and clarity in all

situations and in all the demands of the daily struggle so that we

are strong and can overcome evil. We shall be able to carry out the

worldwide tasks God has given us only when the word is alive and

kept alive in us.

The living word discloses the will of God to us, that world history

has to work toward the one goal: the kingdom of God, the sovereign

rule of Jesus Christ. Only when humankind is ready to be ruled by

the will of God alone, and not by its own nature, will the joy of

true peace and genuine right-eousness be able to rule among us.

The final and complete rule of God lies still in the future, as the

horrors of our age have proved time and again. But there is a clear

relationship between the rule of Christ in the hearts of believers

and the future rule of their Lord as king. For the kingdom of God is

nothing less than the will and nature of the Highest become practical

reality.

Wherever the peace of God that the world yearns for becomes

reality, it reveals itself as new life: new joy, new energy, and new

love. This happens not only in heaven, but here on earth, wherever

men and women become alive to God's will and submit to it. For

there is no greater goal worth striving after: God's rule in the com

ing kingdom of Jesus Christ.
