He Delights over You

“The Lord will take delight in you. As a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.”

—Isaiah 62:4-5

I asked my husband, Ken, on our tenth wedding anniversary, “What were you thinking on the day we married?”

His answer delighted me. He said, “I woke up so early that morning, excited that I would soon see you in your wedding gown. And even though I knew there would be hundreds of people in the church, I knew my eyes would be for you, only. In fact, I’ll never forget that wonderful feeling when I saw you wheeling down the aisle in your chair, you looked so beautiful.”

Hearing those words gave me so much pleasure. And just think. This is the way God feels toward us. It says so in Isaiah 62:4-5. Remember, Jesus wants us to love Him passionately and single-heartedly; but He also wants to remind us that His love for us is warm, pure, and passionate.

We can only catch a glimpse of this kind of passion on this side of eternity. But one day when we, the bride of Christ, are presented to our Savior, the Bridegroom, we will be caught up in raptures of delight. Nothing will please Jesus more than to see His bride presented to Him pure and blameless.

The Lord also says to you in Isaiah 42:1, “Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight.” God takes great delight in you. You give Him great joy. He finds pleasure and satisfaction in your worship and praise. And your obedience brings a smile to His face. Love Him today with all your heart. After all, every day His heart is full of love for you.

Dear Lord, I love you so much. More so, I’m glad that You love me. From my heart, thank You.
