Joni and Friends International Disability Center
Joni and Friends
International Disability Center
Joni and Friends is built on biblical truth and the foundation of Jesus Christ. We are committed to advancing disability ministry and changing the church and communities around the world. The Joni and Friends International Disability Center serves as the hub of our ministries that reach out to thousands of families affected by disability around the globe.
Founder Joni Eareckson Tada, a quadriplegic since 1967, is a well-known Christian advocate who inspires others to embrace the mandate of : “invite the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame . . . [urging them] to come, so that [God’s] house will be full.” We present the clear and concise gospel of Jesus Christ to people affected by suffering and disability, their families, and caregivers through our worldwide programs.
We also train, disciple, and mentor people affected by disability to exercise their spiritual gifts of leadership and service in their churches and communities. We energize the church to move from a lack of awareness to fully including persons with disabilities in the fabric of worship, fellowship, and outreach.
Joni and Friends’ Christian Institute on Disability
Leaders in the church and community have long looked to Joni Eareckson Tada and Joni and Friends as an authoritative Christian voice on critical issues related to suffering and disability. To advance this important work of education and advocacy, Joni and Friends established the Christian Institute on Disability in 2007. The CID aggressively promotes a Christ-centered approach that protects human dignity and the sanctity of all human life, no matter the disabling condition.
The Christian Institute on Disability seeks to impact the church, Christian and public institutions, and societies with a biblical worldview and life-giving truth on issues pertaining to life, dignity, justice, and equality that affect people with disabilities. This is carried out through education, leadership development, reflection on ethical questions, and outreach programs in churches, colleges, and seminaries worldwide.
The mission of Joni and Friends is to communicate the gospel and equip Christ-honoring churches worldwide to evangelize and disciple people affected by disabilities.
