About this book

Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners by John Bunyan is the spiritual autobiography of the author of The Pilgrim’s Progress. First published in 1666, it describes Bunyan’s struggles with sin, repentance, faith, assurance, temptation, Scripture, and the grace of God through Jesus Christ. This UECF.NET Web Book is a free Christian classic for online reading and study — not a mock-up, and not an embedded Internet Archive page.

The reading text follows the public-domain eighth-edition wording preserved in Project Gutenberg eBook #654 (the 1905 Religious Tract Society transcription), which is the complete numbered autobiography (paragraphs 1–339), Bunyan’s preface, his call to the ministry, his imprisonment, and the conclusion. Obvious scanning slips have been corrected; Bunyan’s language has not been modernized. The LibriVox recording listed below follows an e-text that omitted paragraphs 319–339 of the imprisonment section; those paragraphs are present here from the Gutenberg text and are not invented.
