Holding On to Truth

NICK VUJICIC

Although I was born with no arms or legs, I didn’t feel inadequate as a young child because I was surrounded by the love of my family. It was through the critical voices of classmates that uncertainty started to creep in. I struggled to believe that God could have a plan for a limbless boy. Rich or poor, sick or healthy, without purpose in our lives, we lose strength and become crippled by fear and disappointment. Feeling hopeless, I attempted suicide at the age of ten.

Yes, the bullying hurt, but losing sight of the truths of Scripture did even more harm. When we believe God’s Word, we find strength and endurance to get through all things one day at a time (see Philippians 4:13). God may not always make sense to us or present a clear blueprint of his grace, but we can trust that he is faithful. He gives us immeasurable peace and joy when we rest upon the fact that he is a God who makes something beautiful out of our broken pieces.

Lord, thank you for saving me and then using me to help other young people understand how essential it is to hold on to your Truth and trust that our hope in this life and eternity is rooted in Jesus. Amen.
