All the basic concepts of the history of the gospel are implicit. in this simple and brief confession: 'Jesus is Lord' . 21 The apostle Paul said: "For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord; and us as your servants for the sake of Jesus" (2 Cor. 4:5). The lordship of Jesus is the apostolic message.
I finished my previous book about the gospel with these words, that they result in an appropriate conclusion for this work as well:
He is Lord, and those who reject him as such cannot use him as Savior. Everyone who receives him must submit to his authority, because to say that we receive Christ, when we are rejecting His right to reign over us is completely absurd, it is a useless attempt to cling to sin with one hand while we take Jesus with the other. What kind of salvation is this if still do we remain in the slavery of sin?...
This, then, is the gospel that our Lord sends us to proclaim: that Jesus Christ, who is God incarnate, humbled himself to die for us, thus becoming the sinless sacrifice that paid the price of our fault; he rose from the dead to declare with power that he is Lord above all and who offers eternal life unreservedly to sinners who humbly surrender to him in faith and repentance. This gospel does not promises nothing to the proud rebel, but for the broken sinners, repentant ones, offers in mercy all that belongs to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3) . 22
