FOREWORD
NICKY GUMBEL
Bishop Lesslie Newbigin was in his eighties and had begun to lose his sight when he condensed effortlessly from memory his many years of study and reflection into these brilliant lectures. Each talk demonstrates a remarkable lucidity and clarity of thought, always grounded in humility, faith and love.
The talks which form the basis of this new edition combining the 2003 publications Living Hope in a Changing World and Discovering Truth in a Changing World, were given at the School of Theology at HTB towards the end of his remarkable life. They demonstrate that he was indeed one of the greatest thinkers and theologians of the twentieth century.
