About this book

Anxious for Nothing: Finding Calm in a Chaotic World by Max Lucado

Anxious for Nothing: Finding Calm in a Chaotic World is a 2017 book by pastor and author Max Lucado, published by Thomas Nelson. Built around Philippians 4:6–7, it argues that while the presence of anxiety may be unavoidable in a chaotic world, living permanently inside its "prison" is not — and offers a four-part biblical framework (C.A.L.M.: Celebrate God's goodness, Ask God for help, Leave your concerns with Him, Meditate on good things) for meeting worry with faith. This UECF.NET Web Book is an original study companion: section-by-section summaries, Scripture cross-references, and reflection questions written by UECF.NET — not a reproduction of Lucado's copyrighted text.

The Scripture at the Heart of This Book

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6–7KJV

The whole of Anxious for Nothing unpacks these two verses: rejoicing in God regardless of circumstance, turning anxiety into specific prayer, releasing requests with thanksgiving, actively presenting those requests to God, receiving God's peace, and letting that peace guard the heart and mind in Christ. Read the full, phrase-by-phrase study on the Philippians 4:6–7 In Depth page.
