Anyone who has ever accomplished anything knows there is very little one can do without enormous support and help from others. In fact, that help may come from the most unexpected places. I write thousands of miles away from home, far from the distractions of other responsibilities, so that I may focus on the job at hand. So first I would like to thank those who have given up so much time with me to free me to do a project like this—my family, my colleagues, my friends. In fact, they have done much to cheer me on from a distance. My thanks to all I meet while traveling, some of whose names I do not know, who take the time to talk and interact with me. To the team that takes care of my back to minimize my pain during protracted hours of writing, my deepest gratitude. Without you all, I could not do this.
Finally, I want to thank the four who work behind the scenes: Wolgemuth & Associates, my agents, are also my friends; the efforts of Joey Paul of FaithWords, whose diligent pursuit helped me sharpen the focus of this book, cannot be gainsaid. Joey is a unique man. I wish there were more like him in this world. Also Danielle DuRant, my hardworking research assistant, who reminds me of what I said where and helps me say it better; Margie, my wife, who is a night owl when it comes to working on manuscripts. She gave up many nights of sleep to do the editorial work. I can’t thank her enough.
But all is not said: As a teen without meaning in my life, I found Jesus as my Lord, Savior, and the shepherd of my soul. Little did I know then how much his message of love and forgiveness would change everything for me. This book is a defense of who he is and of why his name is still above every name.
