MIDDLEDITCH, ROBERT T.: Burmah’s Great Missionary: Records of the Life, Character and Achievements of Adoniram Judson. (New York, 1854. Third edition.) The first edition was published anonymously and authorship was credited, by Warburton, to E. H. Fletcher. Fletcher, a Baptist, published this book in time to “beat out” Francis Wayland’s “official” biography, against the strenuous obieCtions of Emily, who accused him of taking the-food out of the mouths of Judson’s own children.
