Appendix 5 A Note on the Articles of Religion
A Note on the Articles of Religion
Among the Fundamental Declarations set forth in its Constitution, the Anglican Church in North America has received the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion of 1563/1571 (the “Articles of Religion”), taken in their literal and grammatical sense, as expressing the Anglican response to certain doctrinal issues controverted at that time, as expressing fundamental principles of authentic Anglican belief, and as one of the elements characteristic of the Anglican Way. In its Fundamental Declarations the Anglican Church in North America is determined by the help of God to hold and maintain, as the Anglican Way has received them, the doctrine, discipline, and worship of Christ and to transmit the same, unimpaired, to our posterity.
The Articles of Religion may be found in the “Documentary Foundations” of the Book of Common Prayer of the Anglican Church in North America.
