"place called Calvary," and must deal with her God upon that ground

"We which live are always delivered unto death …that the
life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh" (2 Corninthians 4:11).
THE RESURRECTION SIDE
OF THE CROSS
"Until the day be cool, and the shadows flee away, I will
get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of
frankincense" (4:6).
The soul in union with the Lord, seated with Him in the heavenlies, may be disposed to think now that all "shadows" are over, and that while abiding in the Well-Beloved she will walk in cloudless light. This is true on the Godward side, for there need be nothing between her soul and God if she "walks in the light as He is in the light," for the blood of Jesus Christ His Son "keeps cleansing" her from all sin. But though inwardly she moves in the light of the Resurrection Morning, outwardly her path is that of the Man of Sorrows when on earth, and must be so increasingly. Outwardly the shadows must deepen in the sorrow that comes through clearer vision of the "mystery of iniquity," and the awful shame of sin against such a God of love. The shadows must deepen until His appearing, when "at evening time there shall be light" (Zechariah 14:7). In a few brief words the Well-Beloved indicates to the soul that there lies before her a further knowledge of His cross, only possible in the power of His resurrection. It is significant that such words should follow so quickly after His description of her as a new creation, as if He would remind her:
1. That the Manifestation of His life will depend upon her continuous resting upon and assimilation to His death; for she must always bear about the dying of Jesus, if the life also of Jesus is to be manifested in her mortal body. 2. That in the life of union with the Risen Lord the soul must still go to the "place called Calvary," and must deal with her God upon that ground alone. 3. That, until the day of grace closes with His appearing, there is a fountain at Calvary open for sin and for uncleanness.
