About this book

The Prayer of Jabez in Today's English and With Study Guide
Charles H. Spurgeon (1834–1892)

This is a classic Christian sermon and Bible-study resource on Jabez’s prayer in 1 Chronicles 4:10: “Oh that Thou wouldest bless me indeed!” Charles Haddon Spurgeon preached it in 1871 at the Metropolitan Tabernacle, London. It was later printed in The Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Volume 17, sermon 994.

The reading text in this Web Book is Spurgeon’s sermon, following the section headings of Chapel Library’s 2001 booklet edition. Scripture quotations in the sermon are the Authorized (King James) Version as Spurgeon used them. This presentation does not substitute another Bible translation for the wording Spurgeon quoted.

About the requested title and source file. UECF.NET lists this Web Book under the title above so readers can find it as a readable digital edition with a study guide. The sermon itself is not a commercial “today’s English” rewrite. A file on the server named C-H-Spurgeon-The-Prayer-Of-Jabez-In-Todays-English-And-With-Study-Guide.pdf did not contain that commercial edition (it is an unrelated 514-page compilation). Rather than invent or paraphrase missing text, this Web Book uses the authentic public-domain sermon, plus a UECF.NET study guide based on the sermon’s own sections. The original PDF file was left unchanged.
