This Web Book reproduces The Message of Sadhu Sundar Singh: A Study in Mysticism on Practical Religion by B. H. Streeter and A. J. Appasamy, first published in 1921 by The Macmillan Company, New York. First published over a century ago, the book is in the public domain in the United States. Text and corrections
The text presented here was transcribed from two independent public-domain scans of the same 1921 first edition held by the Internet Archive: the primary source scan, bwb_C0-ANO-604, and a second digitized copy, messageofsadhusu00stre, used to verify the Table of Contents, chapter titles and page numbers, and to check readings at points where the primary scan’s optical character recognition was unclear. In both cases, the wording, sentence structure and paragraph divisions of the original authors are preserved exactly as printed. UECF.NET has not paraphrased, modernised or abridged any part of the text.
A number of corrections have been made to the underlying page scans, all of them mechanical rather than editorial: obvious optical-character-recognition slips (misread letters, garbled diacritics, dropped or doubled words), stray page furniture such as running heads and folio numbers, and hyphenated words split across a page break have been removed or corrected so the text reads as the original authors intended. Original page numbers are preserved throughout as small centered markers between paragraphs, reflecting the pagination of the source scans. No words, sentences or Scripture references have been added, removed or reworded beyond this housekeeping. The original authors’ own footnotes are reproduced as numbered notes following the paragraph to which they belong.

Scripture references within the text link to the New King James Version as hosted elsewhere on UECF.NET, for the reader’s convenience; the references themselves are exactly as Streeter and Appasamy cited them and have not been added to or altered.
About the authors
Burnett Hillman Streeter (1874–1937) was an English New Testament scholar and Fellow of Queen’s College, Oxford, best known for his work on the Synoptic Gospels. He met Sundar Singh during the latter’s visit to Oxford in 1920 and, struck by his teaching, undertook this study with A. J. Appasamy soon afterward.
Aiyadurai Jesudasen Appasamy (1891–1975) was an Indian Christian theologian, later a bishop of the Church of South India, known for his own writings on Indian Christian mysticism and for arguing that Christian faith in India should be expressed through indigenous rather than Western categories of thought.
