The Relationship of the Film and the Book
An animated film entitled The Great Evangelical Disaster has been made by my son Franky Schaeffer with Ray Cioni to accompany this book. The film is a satire which speaks to those who are "outside" the evangelical world, in the hope they will awaken to where modern Man has come. The film also speaks to Christians, to help them realize how destructive the world spirit about us really is. (The film is produced by Franky Schaeffer V Productions, and distributed by Word, Inc., Waco, Texas. For more information, see the back cover of this book.)
My book hopes to help evangelical Christians see how much of evangelicalism has been accommodating to the destructive and ugly world spirit of our day; and to help young Christian radicals, and others, to stand courageously against this accommodation.
I would also mention Franky Schaeffer's new book Bad News For Modern Man (Crossway Books, Westchester, Illinois, 1984). This book is directly related to the film and the three projects constitute a unit.
