EPILOGUE
The Bible stands though the hills may tumble,
It will firmly stand when the earth shall crumble;
I will plant my feet on its firm foundation,
For the Bible stands.
These are the words to the chorus of a rousing hymn by Haldor Lillenas that I often sang in decades past when I was actively involved in three different Bible churches. All else could be wiped away, we were firmly convinced, but the Bible would stand forever.
Nearly two millennia have passed since John’s grand psychedelic vision. For Christians the end is always near. Signs seem to be everywhere. The hills tumble and the earth crumbles. Yet here we are in the twenty-first century, and the Bible is still standing.
And so shall it ever be.
