About this book

Knowing God

First published in 1973, Knowing God grew out of a series of magazine articles and quickly became one of the most widely read works of evangelical theology of the twentieth century, praised by Christianity Today among the fifty books that most shaped evangelical thought and still selling in the millions of copies worldwide. J. I. Packer's aim was deceptively simple: to move Christians from merely knowing about God to actually knowing him — and to show that sound doctrine, rightly pursued, always ends in worship. The book unfolds in three parts: why knowing God matters at all, a sustained survey of God's own character and attributes, and what practical difference that knowledge makes when life is hard.
